The Dinner Table

We sat down at the kitchen table as a family of 5 a couple of weeks ago and it sure was great! It's so fun to imagine the chaos of Juliet adding to the chatting, eating, goofing around, singing, and praying. The kitchen table makes us slow down and enjoy each other.

Fast forward a few weeks and Juliet is already starting to eat with us. Whoa, that happened fast, but for our Wittlest, it's important for us to pack on some pounds. Since her 2 month check-up our baby girl has continued to spit up constantly, but it has never seemed to bother her. I could tell she was growing in length when her little legs wouldn't straighten out in a sleeper or those little newborn hats wouldn't fit her head, but she definitely wasn't filling out her clothes. She is so teeny tiny, but so full of personality already. She has been rolling from front to back and back to front for about a month, she is grabbing toys, she lights up when you look at her, and she wants to chat all the time. She's thriving, but her 4 month check up proved that the weight gain wasn't there. So the doc suggested a reflux medicine to help keep the calories in and offering 8 more oz of milk in the day in addition to starting her on rice cereal.

Don't mind the spit up next to her, the whole exam table looked like that!
Weight-11 lbs 5 oz (5th percentile, which is down from the 44th)
Height-24.5 in
Head-40.5 cm

Lydia wouldn't let me put her down. She requires a lot of attention lately, constantly wanting "uppy, uppy, please"
Juliet is so used to constantly having an audience. Sisters are always nearby to help her out and cheer her on.
Hopefully Juliet gains some weight and we see a happier girl. 4 months is a common time for a growth spurt and milk supply decreasing a bit so I think that explains some of Juliet's recent fussiness. There was a rough few weeks stretch where our little angel was waking through the night again. We've also learned that when she is tired, she gets fussy and if you miss that window to get her down to sleep she's going to fight it and cry....a lot! Last week we stopped swaddling her because she was squirming all over her crib and ultimately getting stuck against the rails.

Hush little baby don't you cry

I'm a little sad about all these little transition because it means our Wittlest isn't so little anymore. She's making up her mind about what she wants and letting us know that she is ready to keep growing up. I'd prefer she just stay a sweet little newborn. But these are all great transitions because we can envision all the excitement ahead. Life with these 3 babes sure is grand!
