State Fair 2013

What if I said I captured our entire state fair experience in only 30 pictures?  "30 Pictures?!" you say, "Impossible!  It can't be done!"

You're right, it can't.  Not with me anyway.  It's 38 pictures, still about 20-30 pictures too many.

We didn't do very much this year.  Wonder how that happened?  Well, I'll tell you.  Poor mapping strategy, unrealistic expectations of walking speed with three kids, and oh yeah, three kids under the age of four.

But oh the joys of the Fair.  We loved it, backbreaking effort and all.  We'll see you again next August, State Fair.  Look forward to it.  2013, how did we survive experience it?  Let's take a look.

We headed right to the Little Hands on the Farm exhibit.  Which is why you don't see it until the 10th picture below.  There is so much to be sidetracked by at the glorious State Fair.

The Soybean sign.
 Tractors!
 Tractors!
 and Tractors!
Some shiny silver livestock holder trailer!

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture!  Though to be fair, that would sidetrack anyone.

We saw some real live chickens.
And finally here we are!  The very greatest exhibit!
 I am the Farmer!
You are the Farmer!
Evelyn practicing her "good day" tip of the hat, a staple for any decent Farmer.
Now you, Lydia.
"Don't climb on the pigs Evelyn."
"Don't climb on the pigs Lydia."
Evelyn just owned the tractor car race.
"You reckoning to pass me?  I reckoning not."
Ok now kids show us how much fun you're having!
 After a hard day's laboring,
 You sell your goods,
and if you're lucky
you make enough to get a Capri Sun out of it.  A Farmer's life is a good one.
When traveling from one end of the fair to the next, we are always sure to take in the interesting sites,
"Interesting" being a very subjective word here.
 The kids get tired.
And they take it out on daddy and mommy is so tired already she can't focus.
A long journey was rewarded with a fully fried lunch.  Afterwards we were further amazed by the glories of State Fairdom.  We saw the cheese sculpture.
We spent time lollygagging.
 We saw horses!
 We saw angels!
 We saw sheep shows!
 Riveting stuff!
And we sat down at a bench, got some cotton candy that no one even liked.  Not even our garbage disposal, Lydia, would eat it.  We sat there for a little while, and that turned out to be the end of State Fair 2013.  No ice cream, no elephant ears, no fried twinkies, no cows even (how'd we miss the cows?).  But we enjoyed it, we enjoyed each other.  Daddy loves you guys.
